Summit Healthcare is a Tobacco/Nicotine-free Workplace

The leadership and staff of Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center endeavors to provide a healthy environment for our patients, staff and visitors, as well as for our community. These steps include the move toward a tobacco-free campus and facilities and the creation of a comprehensive employee wellness program.

Effective September 1, 2013, Summit Healthcare will no longer hire tobacco/nicotine users.

External job applicants will need to confirm that they do not use tobacco/nicotine products when applying for positions at Summit Healthcare. Along with regular pre-employment health and drug screenings, new hires will be tested for tobacco/nicotine use; those who fail the screening are welcome to re-apply after 90 days.

Like many health systems and other organizations before us, we are taking this step to ensure a bright future of Summit Healthcare, our staff and out patients.

Summit Healthcare offers information and resources for tobacco/nicotine cessation efforts. Many staff members and patients have found success using these resources and combining group support and nicotine replacement therapy.
